The story of the "Mosher Millions" has been around for a long time becoming family folklore. It is a great story and well worth mentioning here.
Its basis formed in the early history of the English Moshers. The story recorded has a variety of origins and over time showed no sign of diminishing. Many descendants of the English Moshers claimed to be a possible recipient of part of this "fortune". Lawyers were even engaged. The story fizzled out eventually when there was little evidence and not withstanding it had been some 250 years plus since the supposed origin of the fortune, a Hugh Mosher, had lived. One story had the Hugh Mosher as a Bristol Woollen manufacturer and another as a Baron, appointed after service to the East India Company. He was unmarried and on his death, the fortune reverted to the Crown, having no heirs.
Even Mosher descendant and film star Mabel Montgomery Mosher had an interest in a possible claim in 1926.
